Get the Full Herbert Experience

Our tour includes a walking tour of the agricultural campus with one of our Herbert Student Ambassadors. You will then have the opportunity to meet with a professor or advisor from the major of your choice. The entire visit will last from one and a half to two hours.

We highly encourage you to combine your Herbert College of Agriculture campus visit with a tour offered through the UT Knoxville Office of Admissions. These tours last two and a half hours and provide information about admissions, financial aid, housing, etc.

We’re so glad you’re interested in pursuing a degree at Herbert! Below are some resources to help you with the decision-making process.

Follow these steps to achieve your goal of admission for fall semester at UT.

Most freshmen enter in the fall, although you may choose to enter in the spring or summer semesters, depending on your circumstances.

High School Junior and Senior Years—Collect as much information about careers as you can and decide what you want to study. You can always change majors if your first choice isn’t right for you.

November 1—Priority admission and scholarship application deadline. Students interested in being considered for UT’s competitive scholarships, including those offered by the College, must complete the Admission and Scholarship Application by this date.

December 15—Regular admission application deadline. Applications received by this date will receive full consideration for admission and for UT’s institutional scholarships, based on their grades and test scores.

May 1—Enrollment confirmation deadline. All admitted students must respond to offers of admission. After this date, applicants from the waiting list will be offered admission to UT on a space available basis.

June-JulyAttend on-campus orientation (your parents are encouraged to attend, too). Students will learn what to do when they arrive for the fall semester, how to register for fall classes, and meet with advisors who can help with individual issues.

August—Arrive at UT full of enthusiasm and ready to embark on an important and exciting life experience!

For information on what constitutes core high school courses, please consult the admissions website: Undergraduate Admissions.

Herbert Student Life

Herbert Student Life has so much to offer every student! There are dozens of opportunities and resources to help you get the most out of your Volunteer experience, including our exclusive freshman program—Herbert Life Living Learning Community. Contact our student life coordinator today.

OneStop Student Services

Three types of financial aid are available for students: scholarships, loans, and part-time employment. According to the needs of the family and student, these are offered individually or in combination. Visit One Stop Student Services for details and application information.

Since 2004, the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program (or HOPE Scholarship) has been a resource for eligible students and can be combined with other scholarships and financial aid. For more information on the HOPE Scholarship and other forms of financial assistance, visit the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation.

Thanks to the generosity of private and corporate donors, the Herbert College of Agriculture and its departments annually award more than $1 million in scholarships to qualified undergraduate students. To apply for Herbert scholarships, students must be accepted into both UT Knoxville and the College.

Incoming freshmen, current and returning UT students, and new transfer students must apply by submitting the appropriate scholarship form. Students do not need to apply for specific scholarships as the scholarship committee will match qualified students with available awards.

For more information, contact the Dean’s Office at 865-974-7303 or visit 126 Morgan Hall.
